Web design for builders

Websites for builders that show you run a proper job

The biggest worry anyone has before an extension is a builder who disappears or overruns. I build sites that answer that before the first call: your real projects, how a job runs with you, and the towns you work in, written so Google can match you.

The work

See it on a builder's site

I haven't built for a real building firm yet, so I built one. Ffordd Building Co is made up, but it's a complete site. Filter the projects and read a Friday update to see how it works.

Ffordd Building Co

A one-page site for a small building firm, built around the worry that a builder will disappear or overrun. The projects are laid out like drawing sheets, each with an example time and budget, and a sample Friday update shows what the customer hears every week.

What a builder's website needs

  • Your real projects

Photos of your own extensions and lofts, with the area and the type of job. Homeowners want to see work like theirs, nearby.

  • How a job runs with you

Written price, start date, how you keep people updated, how payments work. It answers the overrun worry before it's asked.

  • Every town you cover

Written out, not just "South Wales", so Google can match you to a search in Caerphilly or Pontypridd.

  • A quote form that asks the right things

Job type, rough budget and photos, so you're not driving out to price jobs you'd never take.

  • A Google listing that matches

Same name, number and towns as the site, and a website link that actually works.

Research

What I keep finding on builders' websites

I've been going through South Wales trade websites by hand, building firms included. These are real things I found. I've left the names out.

  1. Another company's name at the top

One builder's homepage still showed the name of a different business at the top, and the browser tab read "Website - Example", left over from the template it was built on.

  2. An email link that goes nowhere

The email address on one builder's homepage looked like a link, but there was nothing behind it. Tap it and nothing happens.

  3. "Home" on the browser tab

Several builders' homepages were titled just "Home", or the web address in capitals. No business name and no town, which is most of what Google reads first.

  4. A website that wasn't there

Two building firms' Google listings pointed at a page saying the site couldn't be found. Every tap on "Website" was a dead end.

Found while researching South Wales trade businesses in October 2026.

Questions builders ask

Do you only work with builders in Cardiff?

Not just Cardiff. I work with businesses across the UK, mostly by email. If you're local and would rather meet in person, I'm happy to.

Is Ffordd Building Co a real business?

No. It's a concept I built to show how I'd do a building firm's site. There are no real reviews, projects or customers on it.

How much does a builder's website cost?

Websites start from £750, with a fixed price agreed before any work starts. Full pricing is on the pricing page. See pricing

Can you sort my Google listing as well?

Yes. Start with the £195 Local Search Audit, one off, no VAT added: where you rank on Google, who is beating you, and the ordered list of what to fix first. It is credited in full against a website build, the £395 Local Search Setup or the first month of Local Visibility if you go ahead within 30 days. See the audit
