Guide

How much does a tradesman's website cost?

It depends on the route: a DIY builder you run yourself, a pay-monthly plan, or a one-off build you own. Mine start from £750 one-off, fixed before work starts, and you own the site after final payment.

The three routes, honestly

Most trade websites are bought one of three ways. None of them is wrong. They suit different businesses, and the cost looks very different depending on how long you keep the site.

  1. A DIY website builder

You build it and look after it yourself, usually for a monthly or yearly subscription. Fine for some people: if you have the time, like doing it, and only need a few pages, it can be enough. The site tends to look like every other site on that builder, and the search settings are limited.

  2. A pay-monthly plan

Someone builds the site and you pay for it monthly, often for as long as you want it online. It spreads the cost, which can suit a new business. Check who owns the site and the domain if you leave, what a change costs, and what the total comes to over a few years.

  3. A one-off build you own

More upfront, and yours to keep. You pay once for the build, then only for hosting and whatever help you choose to take. If you ever change designer, the site goes with you.

What to check before you pay

Whichever route you take, these five answers decide what the site really costs you.

  • Who owns it

The site, the files and the domain. Ask what happens to each if you leave.

  • What is included

Whether hosting and the domain are in the price, and what they cost if not.

  • What changes cost

An hourly rate, a monthly allowance, or nothing until you ask. Get it in writing.

  • Whether the price is fixed

A price agreed in writing before work starts, so nothing arrives as a surprise.

  • A page per service and per town

That is what lets Google match you to "boiler repair Barry" rather than just your name.

Do I even need a website?

Honestly, not always on day one. A complete Google Business Profile with real reviews matters a lot for a local trade, and for some businesses it brings in enough work on its own. A website backs it up: it is where someone goes to check you are real, see what you do and where, and ask for a quote without ringing.

If you already have a site and are not sure whether it is working, the £195 Local Search Audit shows where you rank and what to fix first, and it is credited in full against a build if you go ahead within 30 days. If you have the listing but few reviews, Review Requests asks every customer for one after each job, for £15 a month.

What I charge

Websites start from £750 for the Starter website, one-off, with a fixed price agreed before any work starts. No VAT is added. Hosting and third-party costs are confirmed separately.

The Starter website, from £750

  • Up to 5 useful pages
  • Mobile-friendly design
  • Contact or quote form
  • Basic search setup
  • Google Analytics setup
  • Ownership after final payment

Care plans, optional

There is no compulsory monthly rental. If you would rather the hosting, security and updates stayed off your plate, a care plan covers it: Essential care at £35 a month, Managed care at £65 a month, Growth care at £110 a month. Work beyond a plan, or outside one, is £45 an hour, always agreed first.

Questions about the cost

Is there VAT on top?

No. Coreframe Digital is not VAT registered, so there is no VAT to add to the prices shown.

Why do prices say "from"?

The starting price covers the examples shown. If you need more pages or integrations, I explain the cost before any work starts.

Do I have to take a care plan?

No. There is no compulsory monthly rental and your website is yours whether you take a plan or not. Most people take one because it removes the hosting, security and update work from their plate, but you can cancel with 30 days notice at any time. See the care plans

How do payments work?

50% upfront and 50% at launch, confirmed in writing.
